Angelo State University will host Dr. Andrew Baker, an associate professor of history at Texas A&M University-Commerce, for the fall 2024 ASU History Lecture Series on October 15. His presentation, titled “Arsenic: Poison of Opportunity, Pesticide of Choice, Persistent Contaminant,” will take place at 6 p.m. in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center and is free to the public. Baker’s talk will explore the complex history of arsenic in rural Texas, often associated with crime and tragedy. He holds degrees from Grove City College, James Madison University, and Rice University, and is involved with several historical associations.
