A man held on four felony charges for his involvement in late 2023’s shooting on Sunset Drive has taken a plea deal. Court records show that Matthew Zaruba agreed to a sentence of eight concurrent years of confinement in exchange for a guilty plea. This plea encompasses all four of his charges. Zaruba had two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two charges of deadly conduct for discharging a firearm. He was indicted for his involvement in a shooting on Sunset Drive that occurred on Sept. 29, 2023. The shooting occurred at Biomat Blood Bank, where video surveillance from inside the building captured footage of Zaruba walking in from the back of the building to Stavian West, who was in the lobby, before producing a handgun and firing.
