Former President Donald Trump is the winner of Texas’s 40 electoral votes in his third bid for the White House. Trump defeated Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris by 56 to 43 percent of the Texas vote in Tuesday’s election. No Democrat has carried the state since Jimmy Carter in 1976. In a closely watched Senate race, Republican Senator Ted Cruz defeated Democratic challenger Colin Allred on Tuesday. Cruz’s ten-point margin of victory was wider than many pollsters had expected. Trump earned 74% support for those who voted in Tom Green County. Cruz took 70-percent of the vote in Tom Green County.
